DESCRIPTION
This authentic 1960s African indigo dye textile it would be super cool as a scarf, stole or pareo. But can also be used as decorative piece: placed on the bed, hung on the wall as a tapestry, thrown over a couch or as a beach/picnic blanket.

Hand loomed in Ghana, this traditional West African textile gets its distinct colour and pattern from natural dyes.
Mud cloth is a traditional fabric dying technique that uses a combination of tree leaves, plants and mud to colour the cloth. In some cases, the designs are bleached or washed off the fabric to give it its colour.
African artisans hand-dye symbols into these fabrics in order to tell stories of their villages and African proverbs. They are individually hand-spun, hand-woven and hand-painted. Each piece is different and no two are exactly alike.

FABRIC 100% cotton.

YEAR 60s.

CONDITION Good vintage condition. The fabric is still very soft. Due to the handmade nature of the cloth, this stole has several little imperfections, small holes and repairs that, in my opinion, add much more character to this unique piece.

MEASUREMENTS 38 inches x 66 inches.
