Eddie Bauer, the American outdoor recreation brand, was founded in 1920 by Eddie Bauer in Seattle, Washington. Initially focused on tennis equipment and sporting goods, the company gained prominence for its innovation in down-insulated apparel, particularly the first quilted down jacket patented in the US in 1940, known as the Skyliner. Eddie Bauer has a rich history of outfitting expeditions and providing gear for the military, particularly during World War II.
