BRAND USMC.

DESCRIPTION
Issued during the Second World War to the Marines, the Alpaca vest saw widespread use in Korea. Being comfortable and offering an additional layer of protection against the harsh Korean climate the vests were a well liked ultimate layering piece for the colder months.

There seem to be at least two versions of these vests, one without any markings and a rarer one with a DEMOTEX-ED label (Demotex was an anti moth process and not the maker of the vests) . The “Demotex version" also have slits on the bottom of the side seams.

Details include:
- Talon zipper.
- Hanging loop.
- Made in USA.
- Demotex-Ed Label.
- Side slits.

YEAR 1940s.

FABRIC Gabardine outer and alpaca lining.

CONDITION Some signs of wear and some cool period repairs. Inside it had a white (contractor?) label but it's almost gone and not readable. Demotex -Ed label in top condition.
Alpaca is still full and soft. Talon zipper perfectly working. Nice patina and fade.
Overall still in a very solid and wearable condition (especially if you consider that they have probably seen some action during the WW2).
